Downtown Oil City has many sights to delight and things to do. Our downtown boasts a wonderful history and industry museum, and a beautiful library with historic archives. You can learn about the oil barons of the early oil days and see historic buildings and homes.
Other attractions include our renowned arts district showcasing the talents of artists both local and national. Graffiti Gallery and the Transit Artist Studios provide a great opportunity to explore many art mediums and get hands-on as you watch, learn, and tour the historic National Transit Building and Transit Annex, which is home to the artist studios.
In February downtown Oil City hosts the region's best bluegrass players for the annual Oil Country Bluegrass Festival.
Join us in June for the region’s Oil Region Indie Music Fest where bands from across the region take over the streets, bars, and restaurants of downtown. In July downtown hosts the annual Oil Heritage Festival, bringing thousands of visitors to enjoy music, food, crafts, and a lively parade.
Oil City welcomes the holiday season with the annual Jingle Bell 5k and Christmas Past events offering crafts, sweet things to eat, horse drawn carriage rides through Oil City’s charming South Side, and a special visit by Santa. The holiday season ends with the annual First Night® Oil City celebration, which brings performers from all over to downtown making New Year’s Eve truly memorable.
